Murray Gold, who has provided music for the BBC series since 2005, has confirmed he has given up.

Don’t all rush at once.

Thank goodness. We stopped watching because of the god awful racket drowning out the dialogue. Mind you even the midnight news has the same three notes played over and over. The days of silent movies with music to aid your understanding are long gone and yet every single programme is infested by racket.
Hopefully Mr Gold will go on to better things.

I dunno. I’ve always liked Gold’s music for the Doctor. I mean, it ain’t Mahler, but then it’s incidental music for an overgrown kids’ TV show. I will say that the music and the sound effects are way too loud and tend to create a certain amount “racket”. By the time you get the volume turned down for that, you’re losing some of the dialog. But those are balance problems more likely caused by the audio technical guys.
