If you know about all the hazardous parameters of music life, full of unforeseen complications, this is of course an absurd requirement which creates not only extra pressures upon an already stressful work environment, but invites rivalry among staff (which is bad for the work place) and making wrong decisions for the performers. In the eighties I worked for a short time for a branch in Amsterdam related to this agency and, to put it mildly, it had something of a psychiatric asylum and a smugglers’ nest where the fees for performers were not quite safe.
