Paris names station for woman composer
mainThe final station on the vry section of the new Tramline 9 from Paris to Orly will be named after Germaine Tailleferre, the only woman in the post-1918 Les Six group.
The line is due to open in 2020.
Taillferre died in 1983.
Here’s some suggested platform music.
It’s not exactly the final station of Tramway 9, there are several others afterwards. But it’s the final one of the Ivry section.
merci!
Good news! Let us hope this will prompt people to play her music more often. Also, when will Beethoven get a street worthy of his name here in Paris. La rue Beethoven is a cul-de-sac about 30 yards long. I suggest changing its name to: l’Impasse Boulez.
Ha! Such blasphemy!
