Paris names station for woman composer

The final station on the vry section of the new Tramline 9 from Paris to Orly will be named after Germaine Tailleferre, the only woman in the post-1918 Les Six group.

The line is due to open in 2020.

Taillferre died in 1983.

  • It’s not exactly the final station of Tramway 9, there are several others afterwards. But it’s the final one of the Ivry section.

  • Good news! Let us hope this will prompt people to play her music more often. Also, when will Beethoven get a street worthy of his name here in Paris. La rue Beethoven is a cul-de-sac about 30 yards long. I suggest changing its name to: l’Impasse Boulez.
