Did you ever see Menuhin play Churchill’s cigar box?

A violin made from one of Sir Winston Churchill’s old cigar boxes received its first airing in a US broadcast by Yehudi Menuhin in April 1958.

Made by the English violin maker William Robinson (1880-1960), it is coming up for sale next month.

  • I’ve never bought a violin or other bowed instrument. However, some of those look pretty affordable. Churchill’s cigar box is quite interesting. There’s one violin near the end that cost more than my house.

The viola on page 63 is fantastic!
