The Scottish concert pianist Alasdair Graham, popular in the 1960s and 1970s, has died at 82.

Stalled in mid-career by a nervous breakdown, he recovered to become a record producer and a much respected teacher at the Royal College of Music in London.

    Very sorry to hear that. He used to deputise at the Morley College advanced piano class in London, which I attended in the late ’80s and’90s, and was always kindly and helpful.

    Alasdair taught me whilst at the RCM. He was a wonderful, caring, kind man; a mountain of information about repertoire, singers, sound and the wider world. I looked up to him as an inspiring teacher and later, a good friend.
