Sony signs someone
mainIt has been a very long time since Sony Classical have added a new artist.
It’s so long ago, the last one might have been Jonas Kaufmann.
But never say never at Sony.
Yesterday they brought out the fountain pen for the London-based German baritone Benjamin Appl, a member of the BBC New Generation artists scheme.
Saw him last week in Barcelona. It was a very long time since I had not been sop bored by a singer. The dullest Dichterliebe I have ever listened to.
Just not for the $70+million they are giving Adele)
I don’t think “giving” reflects the business practice of the record labels. Adele will earn far more for the label than this kid ever will.
Well, he’s certainly pretty to look at. I hope he can sing.
