Lost Schumann manuscript turns up in US
mainThe Saxon government has paid an undisclosed sum for Robert Schumann’s sketches for his first piano trio, offered for sale by a US dealer.
The 25-page notebook, dated 1847, once belonged to the town of Zwickau. The purchase price was in six figures.
This was not “lost”–information about it and its whereabouts is well documented–it has merely changed hands.
The SLUB has a nice online presentation of this manuscript. The first image links to a digital version of the sketches. See: https://www.slub-dresden.de/sammlungen/musik/musik-spezialthemen/robert-und-clara-schumann/
His handwriting is a bit hard to read.
