Union appeals to Culture Secretary to save besieged ENO
mainEquity, the actors union, has gone over the head of the Arts Council to implore the Culture Secretary to intervene on behalf of beleaguered English National Opera.
The union’s general secretary Christine Payne said Sectretary of State John Whittingdale should confirm his commitment to the company.
Specifically, ‘We believe it would help the debate on the future of opera in London if you could publicly confirm your commitment to opera as an art form, especially sung in the English language, and that London should continue to have two full-time and dedicated opera companies.’
Equity? I bet Gideon’s quaking 🙁
His name is George Osborne. He is not called Gideon and has not been called Gideon for many years. Stop acting like a child.
Try posting on topic for once? Ooops, I forgot – your sort think they rule the world, and that no rules apply to them.
Are you intentionally this stupid, Mr Mars? You make an irrelevant and unnecessarily snide comment about Mr Osborne and I correct you. How silly.
Wrong again – twice in one day. I wrote about Equity, the topic under discussion. You wrote about me. Twice.
Which shows that your knowledge of Equity, and ENO is a total 0. Although that comes as no surprise.
How funny: it turns out that Edmund Mars has made the same ‘Gideon’ joke at least three more times over the past couple of months (see below). One wonders whether he has some kind of strange or perverted obsession with the British Chancellor of the Exchequer.

Really? The focus on your comment was on Osborne. Justifying yourself like that makes you look very silly.
Still not a sausage about ENO or Equity from you.
But then – there’s a very good reason for that, isn’t there?
And what have you said about the ENO or Equity? Nothing, my dear! You just wanted another chance to mention George Osborne. Do you care to explain your fascination with him? It is the fourth time you have wanted to talk about him recently.
