New Orleans legend dies after concert in Madrid
mainAllen Toussaint, who suffered a heart attack and died in the ambulance that took him to hospital, was an allround livewire who wrote hundreds of hit songs and performed them himself.
Allen was 77, the soul of New Orleans.
His sexiest hit: Voulay-vew couchez avec mwah, se swah?
Allen Toussaint didn’t actually write Lady Marmalade. He merely produced it. The Lennon version is wierd, crude and a million miles away from Toussaint’s suave realism.
One of the most important musical forces and culture weavers has left us. In the opinion of many, Allen’s influence covers more ground than any since Ellington. A gentleman and mighty force.
Say amen.
Great city to die! Another leyend gone…
I hope he gets a good send off. He had a great run.
