A baby girl for Welsh singing star
mainKatherine Jenkins was delivered of a 7lb daughter today, she announced on Twitter and Instagram:
Introducing our daughter Aaliyah Reign Levitas, who came loudly into the world weighing almost 7lbs and surrounded by love. We are absolutely besotted with her & grateful for the beautiful blessing of this happy, healthy, little miracle. Cwtches all round.
Ms Jenkins has promised to sing Carmen in Wales next summer. Without the boring bits.
‘Aaliyah Reign Levitas’
Pseuds Corner, anyone?
What ever happened to Baby Jane?
I assume that Aaliyah is a transliteration of עֲלִיָּה. Given that Ms Jenkins’s husband, the child’s father, is Jewish, I don’t suppose that this is as odd a name as it sounds, though I am not sure whether it is commonly used as a name by Jewish people. I’m afraid I had no idea that Ms Jenkins’s husband was called Mr Levitas until I consulted Wikipedia, so I had assumed that the child actually had the Latin word levitas as a forename. In fact, it is her surname. I am, however, mystified as to why anybody would call a child Reign.
Congratulations to the family! Mum would do well to concentrate on parenting and leave Carmen to the likes of Garanca and Gheorgiu!
