Italian juror can’t get visa to Cliburn contest
mainNo admission problems have been reported at the Tchaikovsky Competition (or Cardiff Singer of the World, for that matter), but the Van Cliburn has been forced to replace an Italian judge who encountered a visa problem.
press release:
FORT WORTH, Texas, June 18, 2015—The Cliburn announces today that Lydia Artymiw will replace Fabio Bidini on the jury of the First Cliburn International Junior Piano Competition and Festival. Mr. Bidini is unable to travel to the United States in time for the Competition due to the current global technical issues of the U.S. Bureau of Consular Affairs.
Hmm…
Just a word to specify that the title is misleading.
My Visa was NOT denied but it was NOT processed on time because of US embassy’s system problems since June 9th.
Sincerely
OK, I’ve changed it. Apologies for the confusion.
I thank you very much for clarifying.
Sincerely.
Does indeed sound misleading. When was the visa applied for? Perhaps not in time? Believe it or not, the State Dept and visa/passport officials usually work very quickly. Last time I applied for a new passport, I received within 4 days.
Everything was done on the 8th of June. And YES normally I was always able to get my Visas, as every yea I do, in about 3-4 days. Not this time.
Sincerely
Sorry to hear of your visa difficulties this time. Hope it’s just a one-time glitch.
Today the Embassy cancelled my appointment of the 23rd of June. They are proposing me the 26th of July. Disaster! It is taking for ever.
