Reiner Süss was “my” Don Bartolo in Berlin’s Staatsoper unter den Linden in the 90’s, in that unforgettable Ruth Berghaus production of “Barbiere”(of course in German, not Italian). He was a wonderful artist, a funny and intelligent man, and in those years I learned a lot from those many singers, vocal coaches, pianists and all musicians in that wonderful house.
