Correction: this gentleman was conductor of the Freiburg Bach Orchestra, not the world-renowned Freiburg Baroque Orchestra (which I believe was not founded until 1987).
Thank you for putting the correction into your main text so quickly – any readers who think I have lost the plot, the main text originally said “Freiburg Baroque Orchestra”, which is a different orchestra.
Nevertheless a loss for our city.
