Flash: US bans flights to Israel over rocket fears
mainThe Federal Aviation Administration has prohibited U.S. airlines from flying to Ben Gurion International Airport for 24 hours, after a rocket landed about a mile away. Delta Air Lines, United and US Airways have all cancelled flights.
More here. UPDATE: From Europe, Lufthansa, KLM, and Air France have also cancelled.
Hamas will claim victory.
Just wondering what this has to do with music news?
Musicians fly. Period.
This has been reported worldwide, however are there any reports of musicians directly affected and have concerts been cancelled due to this?
They have no choice. It’s due to the insurance fine print…
Israel is under rockets attacks for the past 10 years.
This is not about Israel, this is about Ben Gurion Airport only.
Ben Gurion Airport is in Israel, about 8 km east of Tel Aviv and less than 60 km from Gaza strip, and is under rocket threat for at least 6 years.
Call the FAA and tell them how silly they are.
The ban is over now just as an update (mind you, former mayor Bloomberg promptly got on an El Al flight yesterday and flew out there). And in any case they’ve also made Eilat airport ready for international flights… All best, James
