Teenaged pianist is pursued by four Ivys

Sylvia Jiang, 18, of Auckland, New Zealand, has been offered full scholarships to Juilliard, Yale School of Music, Peabody and NEC. Eat your hearts out Tiger Mums everywhere.

Sylvia has been playing the piano since she was four years old.

Heard her in as jury member at the Lev Vlassenko competition in Brisbane and she was very impressive indeed .One of the most promising pianists coming from New Zealand in recent years.Her teacher Qu Yong is also a remarkable pedagogue for whom I have the highest respect .
