Selling Moses und Aron
main…. is never easy. Here’s the latest take from Welsh National Opera.
We hear complaints from London Jews that the timing of the two Covent Garden performances would require them to break one of the ten commandments, the fourth to be precise. An act of cultural insensitivity.
The late lamented New York City Opera sold out its performances in the 1990 production of “Moses und Aron”.It should be noted that there were actually naked virgins,as called for in the score.
Are you sure they were virgins? SCNR
do you seriously imagine that only jews would be interested in seeing these performances? get a grip!!
I was in the chorus of this once in Lyons in the 90s. At my age, mercifully it’ll never happen again! Definitely a hard sell but very enterprising of Welsh. Hope it’s a success, which I’m sure it will be – but a hard sell nonetheless.
