What is it about Hungarian composers?
mainMy album of the week on sinfinimusic.com is a recital of piano music by Hungarian composers, modern and contemporary. What they have in common is the knack of making you listen to the piano as if you’d never heard it before. Read the review here. Then try some.
Delighted about the Jeney receiving it’s first commercial recording.
I’ve been fascinated by ‘Artur Rimbaud in the Desert’ ever since i heard Michael Finnissy play it in a recital some 20years ago.
It’s a very systematic piece, and disconcerting on first acquaintance: an array of 25notes is repeated thirteen times but each time with more and more notes removed. It’s very easy to hear the process taking place.
