I’m very sorry to hear of his death. I had the good fortune to be allowed to watch some of his rehearsals as well as performances at Deutsche Oper am Rhein and he came across as a real musician’s musician. A conductor who knew his scores inside out, obviously loved what he did, understood totally that unique species – the opera singer – and last but not least was highly respected by those he worked with.

    RIP Maestro Wallat

  • Michael Schaffer says:

I played Bruckner 8 under him once. He was a very good, very professional and unpretentious conductor.
