A bedtime meeting of keyboard legends
mainYesterday, Martha Argerich paid a courtesy visit in Buenos Aires to Elizabeth Westerkamp,a legendary piano teacher who studied with Vicente Scaramuzza. Argerich, along with Daniel Barenboim, Bruno Gelber and Sylvia Kersenbaum were also Scaramuzza pupils.
Westerkamp, who is 100 years old, taught Ingrid Fliter and Federico Lechner, among others.
The Buenos Aires piano school remains keenly productive.
Dùo Isas-Kwiek, who took this beautiful picture, write: We were rather late and Westerkamp received us in bed with joy and intelligence as always. I share with you a photograph that allowed me to take that moment!
