Last Ovation as Music Director at the Met. Hopefully NOT his last ovation!
The END OF AN ERA!
Where did the years go?
He is conducting the Met Opera Orchestra on May 26, 2016 at Carnegie as music director of the Met.
Yes, that’s right but it isn’t by any quite the same. The end of an era with Jimmy at the helm.
The May 26 concert at Carnegie Hall (for which I have a ticket) actually bills him as “James Levine, Music Director Emeritus and Conductor” on the Carnegie Hall website (http://www.carnegiehall.org/Calendar/2016/5/26/0800/PM/The-MET-Orchestra/). So his opera-house finale may formally have been his last appearance as Music Director.
