Biz news: Russian mezzo jumps
OperaMaria Mot’s boutique London-based management has signed the in-demand Russian mezzo-soprano Ekaterina Gubanova.
Formerly with Hilbert in Munich, Gubanova now shares an agent with Lise Davidsen, Ruxandra Donose and Gerald Finley.
In other moves, Askonas Holt has recruited the Georgian tenor Mikheil Sheshaberidze.
EG is the real deal. Brilliant artist and fabulous person.
In a roster full of “burn through their capital while they’re young” singers, Gubanova stands out as a smart choice.
I think we can safely say that Mot is now the world’s great opera agent.
But will she be able to get work for her Russian import? I thought Russian artists were, in the whole, PNG?
I think the juxtaposition of Russian and jumps is unfortunate at the present moment. Fortunately no high buildings this time.
