Opera and football club issue joint poster
OperaLe Racing Club de Strasbourg Alsace has joined up with Opéra national du Rhin to issue an official joint portrait of their famous first teams.
The poster goes on sale in Strasbourg today.
Marc Keller, President of the Racing Club says: ‘We share a societal mission with the Opéra national du Rhin to bring together all audiences, to make them experience emotions that transcend everyday life. Our strengths are complementary to inspire and bring together.’
Alain Perroux, Director General of the Opera: ‘Opera and football have more in common than you might think. Both bring together teams of diverse personalities who join forces and talent for a common goal. All this to bring pleasure and emotion to audiences in all their diversity. There is nothing more difficult, but there is nothing more beautiful.’
We can’t quite see them getting united in Manchester.

Why not? I share your scepticism about ENO’s plans, but the football connection is at least imaginative.
Keller’s and Perroux’s comments on this topic are more eloquent than Mollica’s – let’s hope she contacts them to share ideas.
Norman, please try to be less curmudgeonly.
I will be the first to cheer if ENO scores at Old Trafford.
Insane.
This is cobbled together by complete ignorati.
How low will such opera company sink to get the attention of ‘le peuple’?
Football fanatics will be profoundly disappointed when they go to La traviata for the first time and don’t see any footbal or goal around.
I think your condescending attitude to football fans is deplorable. You make it sounds as if everyone who cheers on a side in a sport is a moron.
And borslap assumes applauding opera means the person is “not a moron”. Dunno what he think of people who applaud both.
They should have a word with Mark Glanville. He could certainly help.
