Hopefully our incoming President will IMMEDIATELY STOP the use of Atacms missiles against Russia, foolishly OK’d this weekend by our outgoing industry Puppet, before Abdra’s patron “erases” the Teatro di San Carlo along with everything else we cherish!

Despite being located in Italy, the San Carlo has a sense of decency because is in the hands of the Frenchman Lissner.

Lots of fascinating connections here. Muti – a huge fan of the Putin’s bass – hates Lissner to the core. Their mutual beef runs long and deep and goes back to the prehistoric La Scala era, which for Muti ended very badly, as we know, with the Milanese orchestra and staff voting him out (now, that’s an orchestra with a spine).

In 2023, Italy’s Culture Secretary Sangiuliano and the Campania Region president De Luca tried to fire Lissner unlawfully (that is, by means of an unlawful ‘law ad personam’), and made public their plans to bring back Muti to the San Carlo. But Lissner was reinstated by the Italian courts, which shattered their plots. On the other hand, Sangiuliano was recently publicly disgraced and lost his post in the Italian cabinet for having an unethical affair on the job (note to a US orchestra which we will not name).

But back to the point of decency: while Lissner has it, Muti doesn’t. If you missed it, Muti is rehabilitating and promoting Abdrazakov; after partnering with him in the last Ravenna festival, the Italian Stallion unapologetically did it again recently in Japan, as reported by Operawire: https://operawire.com/riccardo-muti-putin-supporter-ildar-abdrazakov-team-up-for-japan-attila/

Muti has “cultural” ties with the Russian criminal regime and/or his stooges (like Putin, the Stallion is a man of “culture” and “beauty”). He famously let Gergiev conduct his Cherubini orchestra at the Ravenna Festival during the covid lockdown era, a very rare ‘privilege’.

Muti is a recipient of the Russian Order of Friendship award (conferred on him by Putin, and proudly advertised for many years on the Italian Stallion’s biography) and a member of the Russian Academy for the Arts, an honor conferred on him just a few months before the start of the Ukraine war; that is, many years after the first 2014 Russian invasion of Ukraine and illegal annexation of Crimea.

The Russian Academy for the art is presided by Tsereteli, who sculpted a controversial Putin statue inspired – the sculptor declared- by Putin’s “body and soul”.

In other words, Muti was thrilled to accept an honor from an “cultural institution” presided by a Putin sycophant and tied to a criminal regime that invaded and annexed a piece of a free European country in 2014, just like Nazi Germany did.

As we continue to follow Abdrazakov’s adventures, I hope that SD, for the next episode, will publish a picture of Muti and the Putin bass hanging together 🙂

    Breaking!!!
Jonas Kaufmann cancels La Scala opening night production (“La forza del destino”) December 2024.

  • Ms.Melody says:

Good move. His singing has been subpar for years. I think his politics are as good a reason as any to replace a bad singer

  • Ed says:

Unbelievably childish and spineless. All because a whiny, second-rate Ukrainian singer nobody has heard of refused to share the stage with Abdrazakov (whose name you misspelled). We are all capable of working with people we like. That is easy. What God demands of us is that we also love our enemies, which is much more difficult. There is no point in making music in an echo chamber.
