Head of music is killed by garbage truck
RIPThe streaming world has been stunned by the death of Cindy Charles, head of music at the video streaming service, Twitch.
Charles, 69, was hit by a garbage truck near a canal in Amsterdam. She had been there to speak at the Amsterdam Dance Event. Four months ago, she signed music licensing agreements with Universal Music Group, Warner Music Group and Sony Music Entertainment.
A truly terrible story. That it was a garbage truck somehow seems to be symbolic.
Amsterdam is an unpleasant, unruly, chaotic city, filled to the brim with tourists, and with traffic getting stuck reserved for moments where you urgently need to get to some place, and irritated people everywhere and especially: public space populated with lots of careless people ploughing their way through the city jungle.
Especially to foreigners Amsterdam is a dangerous place in terms of traffic. There should be many more warnings, instead of the city council’s international inviting advertising tourist flag waving which drew extra millions of foreigners, contributing to the chaos.
