In less than a week, @tenorkaufmann and I will reunite once again to sing a program of operetta arias and duets, this time with the @laphil and maestro @gustavodudamel at the @hollywoodbowl.
Jonas and I have collaborated many times throughout our careers, and to say I am more than thrilled to be starting off this season singing glorious operetta duets with him is an understatement. We always have the best time together and there is no doubt next week will be filled with great music and lots of laughter!
I have tickets. Please don’t cancel. The show must go on.

Surprising absolutely no one, he cancelled that one “for health reasons” too – just a few days before the performance – so that DD will be singing all by her lonely self.

Last week, this week, next week, next month, next year. It’s all in a day’s work for JK. Once a protégé of Opera’s Mafia, serial cancellations have zero reputational or practical consequences.
Heavy schedule. And Hollywood is more attractive than Bratislava financially speaking. He can sort out his priorities.
It seems he has cancelled Hollywood Bowl too. It is serious. Sorry. I wish him good health .
Now he can cancel in LA, too! That’s what you call an international career.

Sorry LA folks, but he canceled the Bowl late last week. They updated the website today. I was offered tix weeks ago but declined. I hate the acoustics at the Bowl for vocalists – AND I knew he wouldn’t show up.
Same here. Because it was JK, I held off purchasing tickets for exactly the same reason. Sadly, it has become an increasingly predictable circumstance. Although a continual work-in-progress, the amplification of vocalists for orchestral performances has definitely gotten better at the Bowl in recent years (at least for the concerts that I’ve attended).
News flash from Hollywood Bowl —
“Due to illness, Jonas Kaufmann is unable to perform during the September 12 concert at the Hollywood Bowl. Additional arias performed by Diana Damrau have been included in the updated programming.”
He does this all the time . I have wasted $thousands on this jerk.
