For a 45-minute concert, which means 20-30 minutes of music…..
Well, 2008 Anna Netrebko was something else… even with all the airbrushing. Did they just do a Google image search for her and grab that for the poster?

I couldn’t get paid that sum or one even higher, no matter how bored out of mind, to go hear her badly intone and wobble her way through whatever she has chosen to …. scream. Then of course there are the issues surrounding her affiliation with Putin and Gergiev.
It’s a fundraiser, in the richest enclave in Fla. Of course ticket prices are high. Such events that I have attended usually include a buffet and drinks for everyone, and a late supper/meet and greet for the high end tickets.

It reminds me of the posters of the Italian Stallion (aka Riccardo Muti), a recipient of Putin’s order of friendship award, and , as we understand, also scheduled to tour in Florida next January.

Light years is a measure of distance, not time. Did you mean ‘prehistoric’ or ‘antediluvian’? I would call it ‘micturational extraction’ – unless, of course, it’s a charity fundraiser with all proceeds going to support victims of her friend’s ‘special military operation’.
Did I read this correctly? Recital @ 7:15pm, Dinner @ 8pm? They’re unlikely to get more that 35/40 minutes of singing. It makes the Olafssohn/Wang recital in London in November look like a real bargain!!

Well, it’s a cocktail party, followed by a (short 45 min) recital and then a dinner. I would guess there is a fundraising component to this event, with a nominated charity as the beneficiary. Usually a live auction takes place as well, with spectacular donated artworks, a luxury car and a host of other items. One year we included Naming Rights to a Star (donated by Mount Stromlo Observatory in Canberra). That one went off like a rocket. I’ve produced a large number of these events and they follow a similar formula, often with a high profile artist as the centrepiece. For those of you who have seen the movie Grace on Monaco starring Nicole Kidman, you will note that Princess Grace hosted a fundraising event at the Palace, engaging Maria Callas for a short recital. Callas was only at the beginning of her career then and reasonably affordable and willing. Ticket prices of this nature are designed to attract only the wealthy and exclude the not so. It sounds snobbish I know, but “inclusion by exclusion” is the motto of such events. Just for the record, I could never afford to attend such an event, but I produced many. I’m now retired.
