Heads of the Cleveland Institute of Music, where teachers have voted no-confidence in the leadership, are doing well out of the crisis.

President Paul Hogle (pictured) added $180,000 to his pay packet, which now tops $700k.

Executive vice-president Scott Harrison now makes quarter of a million.

These figures are Form 990s from fiscal year 2023:

Paul Hogle: $620,580 plus $93,835 in addition compensation for a total of $714,415, a raise of $180,234 from the previous year.

Scott Harrison: $251,257 plus $33,402 in addition compensation for a total of $284,659, a raise of $192,396 from the previous year.

    Paul “Hog-it-All” Hogle

    Failing upward…. it’s the American way….

  • Tricky Sam says:

How do I get a job like that?

    • Sue Sonata Form says:

Keep reiterating all the tired old lefty bromides and you’re a shoe-in!!! They’re all a fancy way of saying “shove over; I want your job”.

  • Tiredofitall says:

This information doesn’t even merit any comment.

  • Well hey there Scrooge McDuck says:

It’s giving Cruella di Vil. Where are they getting these funds? From Salaries of the teachers they’ve fired? Who would possibly want to send their kid to this school these days – what will be left when Paul is no longer there.

This may be the least subtle act of pure greed I’ve ever seen.

    • Tiredofitall says:

Pull your kids out TODAY. There are plenty of good conservatories and university music programs out there.

Don’t feed the beast. They may end up one day with a degree from a defunct institution.

    • Paul Hogle's Sock says:

I worry that Paul may outlast CIM. That is how bad he has done

  • Michael says:

The bottleneck is at the top of the bottle….

  • Piston1 says:

Every Woke convulsion, no matter which way it politically comes from:
CIM circling the wagons, the dismantling of Mostly Mozart, or that countertenor singing all the parts in “Figaro” — in the end, the result is just more inequality.

    • Anonymous says:

There is absolutely nothing “woke,” progressive, or equitably-minded, about the goings on at CIM. Nothing. They just have a bizarre agenda that they are shoving on everyone ruthlessly. And they are losing their top faculty because they apparently think students go to CIM to study with Hogle.

    • Paul Hogle's Wig says:

If you think Paul Hogle and the word “woke” go together then you obviously know nothing about the situation.

    • Eric Wright says:

This reads like an AI bot programmed with nothing but the Daily Wire, Brietbart, and Stormfront.

Seriously, bait should stink, but not *that* much.

  • CIM faculty says:

This is all happening while staff are being told raises can’t happen for a second straight year do to mistakes my these two idiots. And they wonder why everyone is quitting. Hey Hogle – RESIGN.

  • Paul Hogle's Daddy says:

Maybe one day someone will talk about Hogle’s constant angry tirades and abusive behavior on the record, oh wait. He’ll just fire them!

  • The Real Paul Hogle says:

    Hi there.

This is me, the real Paul Hogle. Thought I would take it upon myself to defend myself. It is exhausting coming into work everyday knowing everyone hates me. It is so hard seeing my name in the paper and in the news day after day and all they talk about are all the bad things I’ve done for CIM and NOT A SINGLE MENTION of MY CREED COVER BAND “CAN PAUL TAKE YOU HIGHER”. I need that money, okay. Once I inevitably run the school into the ground, I am going to need that money for retirement, because no place on earth is gonna hire me, right? Let’s get real. Also my fake son, Scottie “the Big Cheddar” Harrison” is probably gonna have to live with me and he eats SO MUCH frickin cheddar. Also, can I just say once and for all – I HATE CLASSICAL MUSIC. It’s awful. I only got into it for the hot chicks. Big. Mistake.

    Peace and Love
    – Paul “Stanky Leg” Hogle

  • Sue Sonata Form says:

Nice work if you can get it,
And you can get it if you try.

  • violarules says:

That form is very revealing – some of those string faculty members are compensated very well!

  • Ronald VanWenkenberg says:

Imagine how many more scholarships CIM could’ve provided its students. What a disgrace.

  • Gimme a Break says:

A bachelor of music degree – no matter from which school – is a ticket to a poverty-level life. Flipping hamburgers at MacDonald’s will pay you better than any music performer or teacher job. But Hogle gets $700K to run CIM???

    • William of Urbana says:

Many conservatories these days understand that student success will depend on much more than artistic ability, and are preparing the students who have the variety of traits necessary with the business skills and practical wisdom to survive the slow, risky ascent from early-career scrimping and day jobs to an ultimately rewarding career in music. One of my friends’ first jobs out of college were at Orange Julius and Macy’s. He is now a nationally recognized American conductor of an ensemble you would have heard of, who is currently on an invited tour of Australian ensembles. BTW, to your point about a Bachelor’s degree, you are right – a Masters is more typically the price of admission to the audition circuit. I agree with you on Hogle.

  • HReardon says:

Typical Wokerati agenda…. Me first after I hide behind the D.E.I. monikers that come from my elevated view at the top of the hierarchical and most importantly compensational pyramid scheme. You need only search it up on the CIM website. And this institutional model is all very prevalent across higher education institutions here in America.

  • Disgusted by Paul says:

Is this not, by definition, evil? Taking a pay raise 3x the yearly tuition price tag you put on your school. Which is, let’s not forget, one of the most expensive in the world ($65K+ per year).

Are you, Paul, worth 3 times more each year than the students your institution accepts? Vile.

  • Disgusted says:

I’m curious, how much does the puppeteer make, and are they still looking to the real faculty to find him actual work to do?
