Paris has announced its annual July 14 concert and it’s much lower key than usual.

The event is being moved from its normal venue beside the Eiffel Tower to the  the forecourt of the Hôtel de Ville, in order not to interfere with preparations for the Olympic Games opening 12 days later.

And the lineup, with lots of the usual names, lacks a single defining star, as in years gone by:

Fatma Saïd (tbc), soprano
Nadine Sierra, soprano
Adèle Charvet, mezzo-soprano
Pene Pati, tenor
Renaud Capuçon, violin
Daniel Lozakovich , violin
Gauthier Capuçon, cello
Khatia Buniatishvili, piano
Lang Lang, piano
Matthieu Chedid, guitar
Thibaut Cauvin, guitar
Orchestre National de France
Radio France Choir – Lionel Sow, choirmaster
Radio France Choir – Sofi Jeannin, choirmaster
Cristian Măcelaru, conductor

  • Lina says:

With that roster of soloists, what is the programme?

  • V.Lind says:

I suspect that line-up will still provide good concert.

  • Gregory Kuperstein says:

    Lang Lang?

  • Aaron says:

When you say the lineup lacks a single defining star, you mean it includes many? At least Lang, Buniatishvili and the Capuçons should definitely be considered stars!
