Just in: Israeli GMD quits Germany
OrchestrasThe Stuttgart Philharmonic has let it be known that Dan Ettinger, its general music director since 2015, has left his job ‘for personal reasons’. No further comment is being made.
Ettinger, 53, a former Barenboim assistant, is also music director of Teatro San Carlo in Napoli, and of the Israel Opera in Tel Aviv.
I am still trying to figure out why citizenship or nationality is so important when speaking of a performer. What is the rational?
Perhaps as Editor-in-Chief NB can explain why that seems to be part of the SD style book? And not just here but in music journalism in general.
