Menuhin Festival selects a Menuhin protege
OrchestrasThe international Yehudi Menuhin festival in Gstaad has consigned its future to the violinist Daniel Hope.
The appointment of the new director will be announced tomorrow. Details here in Christian Berzins report.
Hope, 50, grew up Yehudi Menuhin’s knee while his mother, Eleanor, was the legend’s secretary.
Glad to see nepotism alive and well.
I take it you know Mr. Hope is a first rate violinist?
“A prophet is treated with honour except in his hometown” suggests that there is also anti-nepotism, though I don’t know a word for it.
