Uta Lemper seeks reboot

Lemper has made an enduring mark on the stage, in films, in concerts, and as a unique recording artist on more than thirty CDs over 40 years. She has been critically acclaimed for her interpretations of Berlin cabaret songs, the works of Kurt Weill and Bertolt Brecht, and the chansons of Marlene Dietrich, Edith Piaf, Jacques Brel, Léo Ferré, Jacques Prevert, Nino Rota, Astor Piazzolla, her own compositions, and pieces by many others. She is also known for her portrayals in musicals and plays on Broadway and in Paris, Berlin, and London’s West End.
She sings in five languages and has brought her evocative shows to the five continents for the last four decades. She recently completed her autobiography, Die Zeitreisende, which has become a best-selling book in her native country of Germany.
Her name is Ute. Though not in the Australian sense.
I will never forget a Brecht/Weill evening she presented at the Theatre Cocoon in Tokyo’s Bunkamura Complex in the early 1990s. Simply superb.
I saw her at Massey Hall in Toronto about a year (?) after the release of Berlin Cabaret Songs. Brilliant, cheeky show. Such a great performer.
