Katharina Wagner sells the family home
OperaLocal media are reporting that the Bayreuth Festival director, whose contract is presently up for renewal, has sold the villa where she grew up, adjacent to the Festspielhaus.
The family had occupied the villa since the 1950s.
I’d already heard this. So it is true, then.
und tschüss!
The commute must have been getting to her.
Has she managed to find a desirable property in Obersalzberg?
why do you feel inclined to spit poison, but have no idea who she is?
I’m pretty sad about this. I’ve been there countless times, dating back to the Wolfgang era, and particularly liked the piano room on the ground floor where parties were held. The last time I went this had been converted into what looks like a youth hostel dining area – white tiling everywhere, characterless, utilitarian IKEA tables and chairs providing the decor. BF Medien occupied the ground floor so I’m intrigued to know who bought the whole thing. Hmm…many open questions…
It was bought by a rich man from the area. No special connection to the festival. His name is hilarious given the circumstances, but I think his identity isn’t in the public domain yet, so I better don’t mention it.
As a whole or by the brick? (Answer: whichever makes her richer)
The house was bought by her neighbour, who’s name is – Wolfgang Wagner! Wolfgang Wagner used to be the neighbour of Wolfgang Wagner, and now Wolfgang Wagner bought the house of the late Wolfgang Wagner. Confusing?
