Robert Casadesus has a star there, along with Maria Callas.

    Alice Cooper, too.

  • Willym says:

And the clutching of pearls was heard in the land.

  • zandonai says:

Congrats! 7044 Hollywood Blvd is in front of the oft-burglarized CVS Pharmacy store. Welcome to Hollyweird.

  • simon says:

    Thats so important.
We are all so happy to hear this.

  • FanofLangLangsartistry says:

What happy news, I assume this is in recognition of his recording of Alban Berg’s complete music for solo piano as well as his recording of Friedrich Nietzsche’s “Eine Sylvesternacht” with violinist Pinchas Zukerman, such great recordings, bravo.

    • Tim says:

If you were really a fan, you’d call yourself FanofLangLangsArtistry, because Lang Lang’s artistry is Artistry with a capital A.

Has he recorded the Rachmaninov piano works for four hands with Yuja Wang yet? Lang Wang would be Artistry squared, and just think of the drama.

      • FanofLangLangsartistry says:

Oh, he should record that, as well as a new version of the complete solo piano works of Aaron Copland, I liked Lang Lang’s first recording of the complete works of Copland, but I think with his new maturity and new star on Hollywood Blvd, this will be even better, especially the Piano Fantasy, bravo, lang lang.

  • SlippedChat says:

It’s heartwarming to see this reclusive and neglected artist finally getting some recognition for his art.

  • Simone says:

I bet he paid for his star, as many do. You pay for the star and its maintenance up front. It’s run by the Chamber of Commerce, which says everything. Artistry doesn’t enter into it. It’s an ego racket, like self publishing.

    • Get Serious says:

I was never a fan of Lang Lang. He deserves a star for over acting with his way over the top phony gestures and insane facial expressions. Ignorant audiences just love his antics at the keyboard.
Its well known the Chinese gov’t has been funding his PR since he started as a young boy with his father.
Remember, Lang never competed in an internationally recognized Piano competition.
He was promoted heavily from PR firms at the start of his career.

      • zandonai says:

Yuja never competed in any piano competitions either. Their mutual oddball piano teacher in the U.S. did not allow them to enter competitions.
Went to his Goldberg recital in L.A…. Absolute travesty.

        • Get Serious says:

          In response to zandonai:
          Yuja Wang’s Piano competitions:
Sendai International Music Competition: She won the third prize and the special jury prize (awarded to an outstanding finalist less than 20 years of age) at the first Sendai International Music Competition in Sendai, Japan.
Aspen Music Festival: Wang at the concerto competition at the Aspen Music Festival1.

      • Tim says:

He probably shares Glenn Gould’s perspective on piano competitions, viewing their victims as “eager, ill-advised supplicants forever stunted, victims of a spiritual lobotomy.”

    • NoraB says:

It costs $75000 to have a star on the walk of fame, unlikely paid for by Lang Lang but likely paid for by his record company. It’s not really an honor, more about who can afford it.

    • Tim says:

I also understood that a star on the “Walk of Fame” was something one applied for.

    • Herbie G says:

What? He paid for it? You’ll be saying he will pay for a peerage next. But we know you can’t do that, don’t we???

    • zandonai says:

Can he pay for knighthood too? Sir Lang Lang. There should be enough CCP money in London to pay for it and then some.

  • Sensationalim says:

Did they place his star next to Liberace ‘s?

  • Allma Own says:

What did he ever do in Hollywood? These stars are bought and paid for, not much of an honor.
