This is a shocking development. The Chinook Winds has been a great asset to the community and the orchestra by bringing fine players into principal positions and the GFS has a great relationship with Great Falls and a valuable asset. But as time goes on the younger generation has little to no interest in orchestral music and don’t seem to care if orchestras survive or not. Happening everywhere. Maybe bring Gordon Johnson back for a season to reinvigorate the audience?
Not only have these professionals added to our listening pleasure in this community, through their outreach and tours they have been ambassadors for our larger community and to the state. They individually have contributed their skills beyond our music community to instruction and other venues including my church.
I am truly saddened by this decision!
