Concert hall shuts its record store
OrchestrasThe popular LAWO store at the Oslo Philharmonic hall is to close next week under mounting economic pressures.
Products can still be accessed on line but this sort of event (pictured) won’t be seen again.
Sic transit.
Everything on line – says it all in life!
Hard for older people that do not have a computer
To buy on line
Will the LAWO label still continue to exist?
Sad sign of the times.
What a shame, it was an excellent CD store, one of the best, with lots of stock.
Reminds me of how the Julliard Store right next to Lincoln Center has basically gotten rid of their CDs. They were like the last man standing.
Juilliard looks at themselves first as a student store and almost all of their pupils are happy to download whatever is available. Most have no interest in historical performances. Academy Records on 18th Street still has a pretty spectacular collection of classical and opera cd’s and records and many cd’s still in their factory sealed plastic for less money than you will likely pay on-line. They are also very fussy when they purchase used cd’s.
