Brussels media are reporting that local organ builder Johan Deblieck has been commissioned to build a supplementary organ for Notre-Dame cathedral in Paris.

The two main organs in the edifice survived relatively unscathed in the devastating 2019 fire, but a small box organ was destroyed and a new one is needed for choir accompanient and the like.

The cathedral is scheduled to reopen in December this year.

“The cathedral is scheduled to reopen in December this year.”

    — one of the few things Macron handled well!

    • zayin says:

non, in the interest of not disturbing the Olympics, the Macron administration is hiding the extent of the lead that spewed out of the burning fumes, the results of the cleanings on the streets and schools and parks around the cathedral, and what more needs to be done

as one official put it “in any case, Paris is full of lead”

You just KNOW, things are being rushed at the cost of the health of the workers to bring Notre Dame back up for the Olympics

so come y’all and bring home some lead sounvenirs, on your shoes, in your lungs…

To my knowledge, the reconstruction of Notre Dame had nothing to do with him.

      • John Borstlap says:

That is not true, Macron has often been spotted deep into the night tinkering with wooden blocks on the roof, his wife waiting down on the ground with the ladder.

  • Edward says:

Whilst it is true that, thankfully, the Grand orgue suffered relatively little damage, the Orgue de Choeur did not survive “relatively unscathed”. Only a fraction of the pipework survived in restorable condition, and the console and blower were completely destroyed. A major rebuild, largely from scratch, will be necessary.

  • Petros Linardos says:

How old are the older organs? Any insights about their properties and overall quality?

  • George W Murphy says:

Given the number of historic instruments that were destroyed in France by migrants, no less, I can safely say that I believe there was anti-Christian tampering going on here.
    Possible terrorist activity.
    Just my opinion.
