New boss in Geneva
NewsThe Grand Théâtre de Genève has named the homegrown Alain Perroux as its next director, replacing Aviel Cahn who is going to the Deutsche Oper in Berlin.
Perroux, 52, started out as a music critic in Geneva. He is presently managing director of the French Opéra national du Rhin in Strasbourg, Colmar and Mulhouse.
Grand Théâtre de Genève had hundreds of empty seats in September for its season-opener, a new staging of the 5-act Don Carlos — something one might have thought would be a major event.
Opéra National du Rhin, by contrast, is 100% sold this month for its seven Lakmés, in Strasbourg and Mulhouse.
