  • Chris H. says:

I have seen Vimbayi Kaziboni conduct twice in New York this year. He is excellent.

  • Schweitzer says:

Wow – a female conductor with KF! They’re a very awkward bunch of past it musicians, who find it hard to agree on anything as a group. I’d be surprised if either lasts long.

  • Peter X says:

    Australian-Swiss and Zimbabwean-American = minorities?
    How?

    • Johnny says:

They’re saying she’s a minority because she’s a woman, and he’s a minority because he’s Black. What purpose do you think stating one’s nationality serves in determining whether or not someone is a minority?

  • John in Denver says:

In what way does Elena Schwarz belong to a “minority”? Not on account of her gender, since the planet has more women than men. Must be because she’s Swiss.

  • V.Lind says:

Not sure what the point of that headline is. Is there a quiet implied criticism in the appointments? Are either of the new appointments underqualified or otherwise inappropriate choices? If not, why make allusion to their sex or race? They are just two musicians.

  • Conductora says:

Elena Schwarz is a superb conductor. She is definitely a lot better than Kaziboni.
