Cleveland Institute of Music recruits star pianist
NewsCIM ‘is thrilled to announce’ that in Fall 2024, award-winning pianist and composer Gabriela Montero
will be joining the piano faculty as the Mr. and Mrs. Jonathan D. Epstein Artist-in-Residence.’
Montero says: ‘Over the past two years, I have found unimaginable joy working with top young pianists through my Piano Lab. That work convinced me that passing knowledge, experience and inspiration to the next generation is not only deeply rewarding, but – at this point in my career – a joyful duty.
‘I could not be more thrilled to be joining the storied Cleveland Institute of Music piano faculty as the Mr. and Mrs. Jonathan D. Epstein Artist-in-Residence. I am delighted to be welcomed into such a distinguished musical family, and I look forward to our work together in the same spirit of creativity and collaboration that drives my ongoing mission as a performer and composer.’
CIM desperately needs star names. Montero needs a rest from the star circuit. Needs meet.
It does matter; everyone is going to Southern Methodist University in Dallas to study with Babayan. CIM is toast.
Gabriela Montero also improvises at the piano. Improvisation: a lost art. I wish her and IM a long fruitful relationship.
I have been to wonderful performances by both Babayan and Gabriele Montero in the last twelve months. Hard to imagine more inspiring teachers. Montero especially strikes me as someone on a great-hearted creative adventure.
I imagine that tuition is about to increase.
Excellent choice made by both, CIM and Grabriela Montero congratulations to both and lots positive results. BUENISIMO Gabriela y felicitaciónes
Call me selfish, but I just wish some day she would publish some piano pieces. They are real treasures and need to be played by pianists all over the world (which by the way also needs many more female composers).
