Musicians of the Metropolitan Opera have announced the death of violist Ron Arron.

Ron played 20 years at the Met, following 18 at Cincinnati.

After retiring in 2005 he continued to play chamber music with Met musicians.

Ron was the husband of Judith Arron, brilliant and strong-willed executive and artistic director of Carnegie Hall, who died in 1998 aged 56.

Ron was a great guy. We had a good rapport. He was friendly, fun and a wonderful violist. I knew him mainly from the NY Pops. I was so surprised by his passing, and will miss him so very much.
