Wasn’t boring to me. I enjoyed it. Just take it for what it is. A bit of fun, a bit of a pro mo, but hey what’s wrong with that? I notice as usual the negative stuff about JK.. I have not noticed any mention of the very successful “Doppelgänger” at the Armory in New York, or the good reviews for JK in Vienna this week for Otello. This is I presume the price of success and fame. There are always the horrible ones waiting and wishing him to fail. Sad people.
Jonas Kaufmann and high quality singing has never been and will never be a bromance – his voice is neither suitable for top-level opera nor for top-level song singing. Somehow he sells a lot of tickets and makes a lot a money with that.
Presumably you’ve never heard him (on a good night) on stage. Maybe have a look at the ROH video of Andrea Chenier.
Yes, buy a video, never a ticket to see him, he hardly ever turns up . Two years in a row has he failed to sing in the ROH- maybe his hologramm would be more reliable?
Please tell us from where you derive the authority to decide who is and who isn’t “suitable for top-level opera nor for top-level song singing.” The fact that he “sells a lot of tickets and makes a lot a money with it” betrays whatever authority who think you have.
Kaufmann is becoming a fraud more and more. Now he has cancelled his visit to Barcelona ( many people had already paid for tickets and booked hotels) only because a concert in Vienna is less hard and pays better, perhaps. Hw long will people put up with his shameful behaviour of cancelations? Who does he think he is?
