Carnegie Hall reopened this week with an unequivocal statement on the Middle East conflagration from its director, Sir Clive Gillinson:

For decades Carnegie Hall has brought artists and audiences together from around the globe, connecting people of all cultures through music. We have long worked with and supported Jewish and Arab artists, celebrated their artistry, and enabled dialogue and an exchange of ideas.  They are all a part of our Carnegie Hall family.  Carnegie Hall and the Orchestra of St. Luke’s condemns the mass execution and kidnapping of innocent civilians by Hamas, which cannot be justified under any circumstances.  Our hearts go out to everyone abroad and in our communities whose families are forever impacted by the loss of life brought about by these acts of terrorism.
