US tenor adds new leading role, at 69
OperaLast night, Gregory Kunde made his debut in the taxing role of Eléazar in Jacques Fromental Halévy’s La Juive at Teatro Regio di Torino.
Daniel Oren conducted a new production by Stefano Poda.
Kunde, from Illiois, will turn 70 in February.
Wow! The “Pride of Kankakee” , opera’s “Energizer Bunny”, just keeps adding new roles to his already stellar and extensive repertoire! Way to go, Greg! His voice is still pristine and youthful (Hey, he is pushing 70!) and he looks to be in great physical shape too! He just might go on forever! (BTW… very interesting photo!)
Nice…
From where?

How did it go? Kunde gewänne ich des gern.
He’s doing wonderfully!
He’s had a fine, enduring career. I think I first heard him in Chicago in 1980 in LA BOHEME — singing the two lines of the toy seller Parpignol in Act 2.
Amazing and wonderful artist and colleague. Time simply doesn’t exist. Bravo
From what production was that photo taken?
Congrats, Greg!! Wonderful News!
