The Japanese-born British tennis player Yuriko Lily Miyazaki will play her second round match against the Swiss Belinda Bencic at the US Open later today.

Lily, 27, is also a maths graduate and concert pianist, we are told.

She now ranks 198 in world tennis.

Next stop Wigmore Hall?

Although she is an accomplished pianist, I thought it was Miyazaki’s mother who is the concert pianist. In addition to her Maths degree, Miyazaki also has a Masters in IT Management. Clearly well-qualified to do other things if she doesn’t make the grade at this stage in her late-entry tennis career.

Like any great tennis player and classical pianist knows…it’s all in the HANDS! Good luck, Lily… and lots of LOVE!

  • Colin48 says:

After a full ten minutes of research, I could find no evidence of her being a concert pianist, although all references mention her enthusiasm and talent for piano playing.

The Daily Mirror, however, states that her mother is a concert pianist (whether present or former is not mentioned).

Anyway, good luck to her in the next round at the US Open.
