Germany’s best Yiddish singer dies at 54
RIPThe esoteric world of Yiddish singing has been plunged into mourning by the death of Andrea Pancur, a Slovenian vocalist who toured as Alpenklezmer.
Exploring the links between Bavarian and Yiddish music, much of her repertoire was self-composed.
Andrea lived on the outskirts of Munich. No cause of death is known.
I, for one, would love to learn more about the alleged “links between” (Catholic) Bavaria and Yiddish music.
