The Ulster Orchestra has conceded with regret that Daniele Rustioni will step down as chief conductor a year from now.

Rustioni, 40, is one of the more talked-about Italian conductors, shortlisted early on to succeed at Covent Garden.

He is married to the violinist Francesca Dego.

Well, I’m sure it was great while it lasted. Rustioni is excellent, and it would not surprise me if he moved on to a more prominent company.

    Paris Opera?

  • IC225 says:

He’s great with the UO. But this is fairly old news.

  • David says:

I think you mean “Northern Ireland”

  • Zarmosas says:

    Free for Paris Opéra ?

  • John OC says:

What a nasty and inaccurate post.
It’s Northern Ireland and he was expected that he was going to move on after 5 great years. Will miss him.
