Kyiv orchestra plays on Korean border
NewsThe Kyiv Chamber Orchestra, which has regrouped in Italy, is flying to Korea with President Zelensky’s specific approval to play on the frozen frontline between the country’s two halves.
Among the works they will perform at the DMZ is the Jewish prayer for the dead ‘El Maleh Rahamim’ (God, full of mercy), composed by the Israelis Baruch Berliner and Nahum Slutsker and the Ukrainian Sergei Krutsenko.
And why use dear Lynn Harrell’s photo for this?
Because it shows him also playing right at the demarcation line between the Koreas.
Yeah, that’ll make a big difference.
This is, as the kids say, totally random. A group of Ukrainian musicians displaced by a Russian invasion go to the Korean DMZ to play a piece by Israeli composers? What am I missing?
