Weirdest ever playout of a news show
NewsFollowing an item on the shocking decline in recorder playing (first reported on Slipped Disc), BBC Newsnight played out with a rendition of its signature tune by four recorders.
Do not try this at home.
Have you ever heard Newsnight’s theme tune played by a recorder quartet?

Not bad at all, really. It’s not an easy piece to pull off!
And you wonder why there’s a decline in recorder players….
Comrades: this is nothing less than a cynical and deluded attempt by the so-called “BBC” to normalise Recorderism. We stand shoulder to shoulder with our allies in the wider trans-flute community against Petrist-Munrovian-Dolmetschist revisionism. We say:
YES to A=440
NO to countertenors while we’re at it
Not to mention Brueggenism!
Add nice ambiance to the propaganda /state run psy ops “news” network.
Wierd. But not unpleasant.
All the kids will be doing it.
And listen to this one! https://lawostore.no/cd/woodpeckers-recorder-quartet-borrowed-not-stolen-25269
This is an established quartet, Palisander, and they are actually fantastic! They are highly skilled performers and also do a lot of outreach/workshops – it will be interesting to see their influence in the coming years !

Weird is putting it mildly! Hardly a rendition to encourage one to take up that instrument, but at least it was on at 11.30pm!
