The music at Menahem Pressler’s funeral
RIPWe said goodbye to Menahem today at a service in the West London Synagogue.
Ilya Friedberg played a Mozart Rondo, K511.
Mathias Goerne sang Bach’s Hier in meines Vaters Statte with Daniel Hope (violin) Antonio Meneses (cello) and Friedberg (piano).
Hope and Meneses, survivors of the Beaux Arts Trio, played a movement of Beethoven’s B-flat trio opus 11, with Friedberg (piano).
And Goerne sang Richard Strauss’ Morgen.
Menahem, present in his coffin, would have loved it.

No one is alive to confirm that.
Richard Strauss seems to be all the rage in London.
The composer of the hour at coronations and funerals alike.
